S6H Exam Results

Best ever A-Level results for S6H!

Seaford Head Sixth Form are celebrating their best ever A-Level results since the Sixth Form re-opened almost ten years ago, with many students heading off to top Universities to continue their studies. With A*-A grades at 38% and A*-C grades at 86% the small coastal Sixth Form, which had almost 120 students entered for Level 3 qualifications this year, is expecting to achieve grades above the national average. Furthermore, 26% of students that were entered for 3 or more A-Level subjects achieved all top grades of A or A*.

There are a number of students who deserve special recognition for excellent attainment: Jonathan Rollings who achieved 4 A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths; Hope Wheatley for 2 A*s in English Language and Sociology, A in History and a Distinction* in Performing Arts; Caleb Golding for 2 A*s in Maths and Computer Science and an A in Business; Anna Branson for A*s in Politics and English Literature and As in History and EPQ. These students have all decided to take a gap year before going on to higher education.

Hannah Wright, who achieved A*s in Biology and EPQ and As in Maths and Chemistry, and Sai Garikipati, who achieved A* in Biology and As in Chemistry and Physics, have both been successful in gaining places studying Medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
In addition, students who made exceptional progress from KS4 to KS5 include Henry Moore, Ruby Hatcher and James Godden who have been accepted to study Business Management at the University of London City, Nursing at Brighton and Medical Pharmacology at Swansea respectively.

Rob Handy, Assistant Head teacher commented, “We knew that students were going to perform well this year, but with Ofqual announcing that they were going to bring grades down nationally to a midway point between 2019 and 2021, it was difficult to predict with confidence quite how well we were going to do. I am pleased that the vast majority are now able to embark on their chosen pathway whether that be to University, an apprenticeship or employment. Parents and carers have continued to be incredibly supportive and we have all worked together to ensure that this cohort, who did not sit their GCSE exams in 2020 and have experienced some disruption to their KS5 education, have had every opportunity to fulfil their potential.

Bob Ellis, Head teacher at Seaford Head School added, “We are all so incredibly proud of this group of students who have achieved our best ever results by any measure. They worked extremely hard in the most challenging of circumstances and, with the support and guidance of our amazing staff at Seaford Head, these outstanding results are fully deserved.
